Private Investigations In Florida - The CC Intern PI

By Johnston Blakley

Florida is definitely the hub of Private Investigations. Public records are readily available, licensure is easily obtained and the business environment is friendly. Many retired police detectives move to Florida to start their new PI career. The average Joe can, too.

This industry boasts numerous specialties; Skip Tracing, Pre-employment Investigations, Forensic Accounting, Forensic Videography/Photography, Surveillance and Executive Protection.

Here are the steps to becoming an Intern Private Investigator in Florida:

Complete the required 40 hours of training (can be done on-line) and get a sponsor (an employer " PI Agency). This can be done from outside of Florida by taking an on-line course. Also, make sure that you check with the Florida Department of Agriculture about the possibility of your past investigative work experience and/or education shortening the length of the two-year internship required before becoming a full C licensed Private Investigator.

Following graduation, pick up an Intern Private Investigator State application booklet from a Florida regional office or have one sent to you from the Department of Agriculture. You will have to fill out the application booklet, tear out the sponsorship page and have your employer (PI agency) fill it out. Have an authorized facility, such as a police department, workup your fingerprint card (included in the application), provide a passport-style photo and your Certificate of Completion (original copy) from the 40 hour CC Intern Investigator course and submit the State fees.

Send the package to the Florida Department of Agriculture with 'Return Receipt Mail' after you make a copy of everything for your records.

Following submission of the application to the State, you can start your internship. The State will mail you a letter of receipt that must be with you at all times while you are working. In three or four months, the State will send you the official 'CC' Intern PI card for you to keep in your wallet.

This is a career that you will never regret starting. You will enjoy this independent line of work and accumulate many stories for your friends and grandkids.

Why not launch your new career now!
