Quick Meditation Tips To Help You Get Started

By Shannon Jessop

After a difficult day, everybody desires to unwind. Meditation can be a great way to release stress from the day, help to bring you into a more upbeat mood, and moreover, help you to feel re-energized and relaxed. Meditation takes time and practice to polish, but once mastered, can be a great tool to help in relieving your mind of strains and let you feel at peace.

The first step to proper meditation is an upright posture. Sitting cross legged with your back straight but not tensed is the correct way to sit. Then place your right hand in your left four finger widths below the navel, thumbs a little raised. The thumbs are to touch. The tongue should be touching the roof of the mouth to stop dryness. Your head should be looking downward and eyes should be a little open. Ultimately, your shoulders should be level with your elbows. This is the correct position to sit in when you meditate. Getting it right will help you to focus, though it may take a little time to become used to.

After learning your correct meditation posture, easy meditation may start. When first starting to meditate, focus on your breathing. Keep your breaths steady as you breathe and exhale. For stress relief, every time a breath is drawn outward image all of the negativity and destructive feelings you have are being drawn out of you. When a breath comes in, imagine all of the positive things and blessings coming to you. Focussing on exhaling the bad and in the good will help you to start feeling tranquil and your consciousness will grow quiet.

When the art of breathing, concentration, and posture have been mastered, adding some meditation music can be a neat way to help in keeping your bad thought in check, relaxing you, and helping you to connect with positive thoughts that may help you to find inner peace and to educate yourself the easy way to be positive through any situation. Meditation and the power of thoughts will help you to make your life a more positive environment which will make you more in a position to see what you have, set goals, and be grateful.

Meditation is a great thing. It can be relaxing, insightful, and help us to think positive thoughts that will bring inner peace and happiness. By practicing proper posture, learning to breathe, and finding the right music, then learning to channel negative feelings away, positive meditation can being and you'll find just how wonderful meditation can be.
