A Better You" Your 7-day Program To Self-Improvement

By Nate Volk

Every season of a new talk show, we are most likely to hear a new celebrity couple have decided to cut the knot. It seems like marriages are most likely to end in a divorce rather than forever. Personally, I don't really care about those celebrities. It is just ironic how we perceive these people as flawless, yet they don't set a good example. I think it's the perfect time for us to cut lose of the candy-coated view of reality.

There are many ways to lose your sense of self-esteem despite of how trivial it could get. But whatever happens, we should all try not to lose our own sense of self.

Wondering what it really takes to be considered a cut above the rest? These are some techniques to help you improve yourself within 7 days.

1. Know your purpose This can be your one liner. Your life's tag line. Your purpose will be your beginning, means and end. It is the guiding star on your journey through self-improvement.

It might turn out as tricky in the first few attempts when you realize that you've reached a dead end. However, you'll definitely find a loophole to alter your situation and pursue your goal of making a huge difference

2. Know your values One technique is to determine what you value most? To make it easier for you to decide, you may jot down what you value and arrange them according to your priority. Then, check your goals and values. See, if they match or there are incongruities. If your goals aren't parallel with your top 5 values, you may alter your plan.

The number shouldn't discourage you, instead it should motivate you to do more than you can ever dreamed of.

3. Know your needs Your little hang-ups can be a hindrance for this journey. Thus, you have to attend to you needs and have them met. List your top 4 needs. It might be your need to be in control, be loved or be acknowledge, whatever that may be, deal with it immediately.

4. Know your passions Find those things that you really wanted to do or you love doing. In this level, you are given a chance to patch things up with your doubt and lack of enthusiasm. Be who you are, and give recognition to those people who have inspired you to become who you are and who you wanted to be.

5. Live from the inside out In this step, we will be doing the breath-in and breath-out technique. It is best to attend to your physical needs too. Let us rid of your stress by breathing in positive energy and breathing out the negative ones. Do this in a quiet and dimly lit room. If you feel like putting a classic music on, you may do so.

6. Honor your strengths Acknowledge your own strengths by listing 3 of your special talents and positive traits. Deviate from your inhibition and allow yourself to know the real you. Eventually, you'll experience a boost for knowing who you really are.

7. Serve others This would be the application of the first 6 steps you have gone through. This is the moment where you transform those abstract thoughts to something concrete. This is actualizing your plans, making you true to who you are and living your ultimate purpose. You'll be receiving priceless rewards from helping other people, most of all from a stranger who will be happy for what you have done for them.

Self-improvement is indeed one type of work that is worth it. It shouldn't always be within the confines of an office building, or maybe in the four corners of your own room. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.
