Laziness Never Made Anyone Great

By Hans S Delane

One can always postpone work back more. Everyone thinks there's always tomorrow and that time can wait. We selfishly put work on hold to steal time for lazy things. Maybe we don't do things on time for fear of it taking too much time and effort. The excuses for being lazy are endless and all of them lead to great nuisance in life.

We've all blundered and been slack and lazy at least a few times in the past. The smart and successful jet-set workaholics too are not immune to this vicious disease. Some just do it more than others. We may have gazillion things to wrap up but we keep pushing them back. Things get pushed from hours to years and this is all very serious.

We certainly make silly reasons up because we may feel that not much can be done anyway. Laziness stems from lack of control over emotions. Look within and find irresolution, tentativeness, confusing tasks and blurriness that is stopping you from doing what is right. Thus people don't do anything instead of trying for fear of making faults.

These excuses are bad and need to be stopped immediately. Start realizing the wrong that is happening - silly excuses. We are procrastinating our activities and spoiling our life. Once you analyze the situation you will find only yourself to blame for it. There is no dearth of excuses and reasons to avoid duty. Hatred of failure, lack of talent, being neglectful, not enough time, etc are just a few.

Reasons and excuses are as varied as fish in the sea. Not wanting to fail, lacking the required skills, being a slacker, time constraints conflicting activities and so on. In time to come, surely people will get the smell of your foul laziness and stop trusting you. They won't listen to you and won't respect you. They'll ask you to pull up your socks and they may cut you some slack too initially. But eventually if you continue they will permanently add you to the list of other similar untrustworthy, unreliable, lacy slackers to be avoided.

Whether the silly excuses are authentic or not, these problems can be solved. We can be in charge of our lives at all times. Start change right away and comprehend the reasons for our persistent excuses for failed deeds. Aggressively looking an Achilles' heel in the eye is one way of starting to triumph over it. Also know how much laziness is harming you. Is it costing you mates? Self esteem? Confidence? Wealth? Are you losing out on a healthy lifestyle?

Understand that the cost-benefit ratio of laziness is highly unprofitable. There are others too who are experiencing the similar problems; many take stern and prompt actions and correct the problem before it becomes a habit. When you're feeling out of luck, demoralized and disheartened, remember that all it takes is one step at a time towards a better you. Each little task is a step. Drop by drop as the ocean fills up and you too will realize that much can be changed.

Imagine all that you can do with all your faculties working at full speed. Some people prefer the work-party method. They set up times for all kinds of activities and adhere to the timetables strictly. Work during work hours and play, sleep, dream, eat, read, watch movies or do any of the million other things that give you your daily dose of laziness. This way you will control the time for all activities and won't feel like a just-admitted rehab patient.
