Stress Management: The Power of Deep Breathing

By Johnson Star

One of the easiest things to do breathing techniques is by deep breathing, due to the fact that this can be done any where and any time you want. Deep breathing is considered to be one of the most effective breathing techniques that can be part of daily work out and can cause relaxing effect to the mind and body. But deep breathing was never considered as a form of physical exercise.

Shallow breathing makes the lungs and chest constrict. This minimizes the amount of oxygen delivered in your tissues. Doing rhythmic deep breathing aids the diaphragm muscles and due to this the lungs air pockets expand. And because of this expansion the lymphatic system is being massaged and as a result relaxation response can be experienced.

Deep breathing requires proper techniques to achieve its effect. Breathing deeply from the abdomen should be followed to enable the lungs gather more air supply compared to shallow breaths taken from the upper chest.

During exhalation carbon dioxide accumulates in the blood which eventually results to natural and automatic experience of relaxation. This makes breathing an agent of relaxation.

Breathing has the ability to address directly with the parts of the body affected by stress. The possible severe effect of over worked sympathetic nervous system usually caused by depression, muscle tension and pain, insulin sensitivity, GI issues, insomnia, and adrenal fatigue can be minimized id if deep breathing is mastered.

Tension is one of the unusual behaviors of the body which can be lessen by practicing full breathing. Once relaxed, breathing can be experience smoothly and can either be called shallow or deep breathing.

The advantage of mastering deep breathing is more than relaxation alone. Stress, taming down fast heart rate, lowering high blood pressure, minimize sweating and even proper digestion can be achieved once deep breathing is mastered.

You can do it on your own anywhere and anytime you want, it does not take so much time to do and dont cost you any money, and you dont need any special tools to or equipment to do deep breathing exercise.
