6 Guides for Choosing the Right Fitness Routine

By Levi Herbert

Every fitness enthusiast already knows what they wish to achieve with their workout and therefore comprise their routine to achieve their goals. However, for the beginner this can be quite difficult. The most important step in achieving your goals is choosing the right fitness routine for you. Below are six things you should consider when deciding on a fitness routine.

1. Set Priorities - Before doing research, you must first decide what it is you want to achieve with your workout. Then, write them down.

2. Analyze and evaluate your physical state. This will indicate your level of fitness and provide you with additional information in regards to possible additions or restrictions needed in your routine.

3. Set a date. By setting the future date, you now have a committed timeline to follow in order to achieve your personal fitness goals.

4. Outline a fitness journal to record your progress. In this journal, mark your current stats (bodyweight, body fat percentage, waist measurement, bicep measurements, or any other body statistic you desire to change during your marked period), followed by the date. This referral will serve as motivation for the road ahead. Next, outline and record further dates at even intervals to mark future stats, and see progress made. This journal may be as detailed as you desire, but serves an important purpose in keeping your goals in priority, and motivating you through the excitement of calculating your progress.

5. By utilizing everything, including your goals, fitness level and other considerations, your next step is research. There are several sources for information on fitness routines for your specific goals; however you must know which ones are credible and which ones are not. This may seem daunting, but here are some great places to start. "Muscle Builder" magazine for men, "Self" and "Fitness" for women are excellent resources acknowledged for their scientific approach to their articles. The internet can also provide credible information. One site that is highly accredited is www.bodybuilder.com. This site provides information regarding fitness and nutrition for both men and women.

6. Finally, if you dont already have a gym membership, search the surrounding area for private or public gyms, and research policies and services they offer. Its important to know what your gym has to offer before signing a contract.

Choosing a personal fitness routine that fits your needs remains the most important step in beginning a healthy lifestyle change, and requires research and devotion if true results are a desire. The six steps listed above are a broad guide to follow when making this decision, but still provide an idea of what needs consideration when making this momentous decision.
